The wired internet connection provided to students in all campus residences is one of the fastest in the country! Because the wired connection is much faster than the wireless connection, and because wireless access points can sometimes become slow in times of heavy usage, the Wreck Techs recommend using the wired connection instead of the wireless connection whenever you're in your campus residence.
Wireless Internet (LAWN)
The Georgia Tech LAWN (Local Area Wireless/Walkup Network) is designed for students, faculty, and staff who are mobile computer users. Mobile users may have wireless-enabled laptop computers, smartphones, or similar devices. The LAWN gives mobile users a way to connect to many of the same computing resources available to them from a campus office or student residence hall. The LAWN has wired walkup ports in the Library and College of Computing, and wireless "hot spots" in and around many campus buildings.
