eduroam is the new preferred wireless connection for Georgia Tech students and faculty. Most modern computers that are capable of WPA2 Enterprise authentication should be compatible with this network. eduroam allows Georgia Tech members to access Wi-Fi when traveling and visiting other institutions participating in eduroam automatically without the need to login or obtain guest sponsorship passes.
Generic Connection Instructions
Connecting to eduroam is extremely easy on most newer machines and operating systems. If your device doesn't support WPA2 Enterprise authentication, you will not be able to connect to eduroam, and you will need to connect to GTother instead.
- Ensure that wireless is enabled on your device.
- Find the wireless internet settings for your device. This usually takes the form of an icon in your device's taskbar. In Windows, it is usually located in the in the lower right, and on a Mac it is usually located in the upper right. Both icons appear as signal bars.
- If applicable, tell your device to scan for wireless networks.
- On the list of networks that appears, choose eduroam.
- If this is your first time connecting to eduroam, or if you recently changed your password, a dialog box will appear prompting you for your username and password. Your username is your GT account followed by "@gatech.edu". (For example, email@example.com) Note: Your GT account is the same account you log into Passport, BuzzPort and T-Square with. The password is your normal Georgia Tech password.
- Enter both and click OK, Connect, Accept or similar option to continue.
- If a warning window appears on your screen, click the Connect Anyway or similar option.
- You should now have internet access.
